The mallow skipper is the smallest representative of the genus Carcharodus. In addition, the color of the wings is slightly brighter, brown or brown-violet. The underside of the wing has no clear white spots, and in the male the hairs on the forewings are absent, by which it can usually be distinguished from the oriental and tufted marbled skipper. It inhabits various types of meadows, as well as ruderal habitats where it can be found feeding on plants of Alcea, Althaea, Lavathera and Malva. It inhabits the whole southern and central Europe, a small part of North Africa and much of western and central Asia. It can be found in all of Serbia.
